Barack Obama and the missus are reportedly scouting DC-area schools for their two girls, 7-year-old Sasha and 10-year-old Malia, who currently attend a private academy in Chicago. The proud parents have stated publicly that the family is considering both private and public education options.

Dear Male Students,

It has come to my attention that you need help with dating. Whoever said chivalry is dead when it comes to treating women sure was right. I have some guidelines that might help you.

No. 1, hold doors open for ladies, and I don't just mean on dates.

There are certain events I partake in just for the food. This year I attended the Missouri State Fair - not because I like livestock or tractors, but because of the fried pickles, corndogs and elephant ears.

I think it's safe to say most of us attend Thanksgiving dinner for the food.

This I believe

The Drury Mirror, Drury University, MO

I believe that Thanksgiving doesn't get enough credit. It's a very important holiday and more often than not it gets skipped over in the commercial anticipation of Christmas.

This year, right after Halloween, I put away the jack-o'-lanterns and unpacked my Thanksgiving decorations.

Hope that Obama will change American attitude toward civil liberties

Gateway, University of Nebraska, Omaha, NE

At the conclusion of what seemed like a never-ending campaign in 2008, voters came out in droves like never before and elected Barrack Obama to be the next president of the United States.

The majority's voice rang loudly across the country and there was great jubilation, but what message did Obama supporters send? They shouted for a change, a shift away from the Bush administration and the unpopular policies that congress had adopted in the past eight years.

AYERS: What I might have said

Daily Nebraskan, University of Nebraska, NE

Had I spoken at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Nov. 15, I would have focused my talk on the unique characteristics of education in a democracy - an enterprise that rests on the twin pillars of enlightenment and liberation, knowledge and human freedom.

Republicans need to focus on brand rebuilding, stop hoping Obama fails

Jim wonders why so many Americans are so damn stupid.

Sally just saw America go down the crapper: Who wants to move to Canada?

Mike says Barack Obama is not his president.

The Facebook statuses above are indicative of those I found when I checked my account Nov.

WAITE: Knowledge of female sexuality leads to acceptance, great sex

Daily Nebraskan, University of Nebraska, NE

I want sex so good I can't walk.

I want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, pull Excalibur from the Stone, do the Sunday New York Times crossword in pen - obtain the Holy Grail of female sex: have a G-spot orgasm.

Those somewhat mythical, elusive orgasms define the pinnacle of great sex and are far less fictitious than you might believe.

What happens when you die

The Traveler, University of Arkansas, AR

Philosophers, theologians, regular people and others have contemplated for thousands of years the question of what happens when you die, but I now have the definitive, complete answer, broken down step by step and presented here to you, my loyal readers. And let me tell you, it's pretty crazy.

Why my heart is broken

The University News, University of Missouri Kansas City, MO

As I walk across campus and hear the buzzing about change and how America's new direction is really going to be a step forward for our country, I find myself fighting back tears at times.

While America revels in this monumental step forward in the American Civil Rights Movement, I feel so much pride, yet my heart is broken.

Local crime, part II

The University News, University of Missouri Kansas City, MO

4 days ago by Greg Vandas

Last week, my roommates and I were robbed at gunpoint of our money and cellphones less than five minutes from UMKC's Volker Campus.

What started as a simple late-night fast food run turned violent and life-threatening in no time at all.

I write this piece in response to another Forum article I wrote earlier this year (see "Local crime cannot be ignored any longer," 9/29/08) and any dissent I may have gotten for it.

Fix the UA tobacco policy

The Traveler, University of Arkansas, AR

4 days ago by Adam Roberts

It's obvious that the UA tobacco policy is broken. We've been complaining about the unenforceable tobacco ban for about a year and a half now, but its time to stop just complaining. We can finally take action.

If you don't have any time during the next week to send a quick e-mail, don't bother reading the rest of this column because it won't do any good.

The truth about 9/11

The Traveler, University of Arkansas, AR

So, apparently it was Oswald after all.

In preparation for the 45th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Discovery Channel assembled a team of experts to re-investigate the shooting. According to its program that aired last night, modern technologies like blood-splatter analysis and computer modeling show that the shots came from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository Building.

Clang, clang, clang goes the ... Beatles?

Surely not. Surely, Lennon, McCartney and Harrison never intended for their good instrumental works to ring by way of near-deafening, amplified bells while America's future scientists, artists and auto mechanics attempt to converse, focus on math lectures or simply survive hangovers.
